about
The eastern Swiss electronica artist Alex Nauva puts all his cards on the table with his new single “Power”. In the track Nauva questions his very own addictive behaviour on an emotional and physical basis, that leads to existential fear and remorse. He throws himself in at the deep end and confronts his own thoughts. For those who think that this description of “Power” sounds like a grim song with confusing sentimentalism, might be deceived. The number is characterised by synth arpeggios that resemble the sweet and dreamy sounds of the French dreampop group M83 on their album “Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming”. This way Alex Nauva creates a double-edged sword by combining intimate songwriting and feel-good music.
“Power” is a first bite of Nauva’s upcoming EP, in which the eastern Swiss artist doesn’t shy away from bringing up taboo subjects and enters the vicious circle of his own negative thoughts. He addresses paranoia, existential fear as well as life and death. These issues are then merged with dreamy synthesizer melodies. This is why he named his EP “Yume”, which means “dream” in Japanese.
lyrics
Oh give me power
Oh give me power
No I mean nothing
No I mean nothing
Weak, I’m going undercover
My life could have been another
Have you ever tried it without smoke?
Have you ever tried it without smoke?
Fleek, do I even matter?
It could have been much better
Have you ever felt so dumb and broke?
Have you ever felt so dumb and broke?
Oh give me power
Oh give me power
No I mean nothing
No I mean nothing
Oh, feels like I’ve been stupid
My ego was way too big
Have you ever tried it in the snow?
Have you ever tried it in the snow?
Oh give me power
Oh give me power
No I mean nothing
No I mean nothing
Oh give me power
In my darkest hour
No I mean nothing
No I mean nothing
Oh give me power
Oh give me power
No I mean nothing
No I mean nothing
Oh give me power
In my darkest hour
No I mean nothing
No I mean nothing without you
